torus

Nicolas Meiresonne, a 20 year-old product design student in Belgium, Antwerp has designed Torus, a truly sensory watch.

So the story goes, “Six weeks ago we got a new project to work on. Wearable watches, the objective was to develop a ‘wearable watch’ with focus on the users experience part. A watch that didn’t need to tell you the exact time, only a perception.” He goes on to explain the target was defined as women/moms around their 30’s, who exercise twice a week, and are happily married!!! Not sure where that last part fits in.

Nicolas explains, “I thought of a bracelet with a color that shows what time it is. Blue/green = morning, yellow/orange = noon , red/purple = evening and night. The colors rotate around the bracelet. The color on top indicates the current “time”. When one colour reaches the top for a second time, 24H have past.”

Other features he has designed into the bracelet include the ability to add several timers on the watch by scrolling through the color touchscreen and double tapping the color where you want the timer to be set. When the timer goes off it will get warmer to alert the user.

For now Torus is still a concept, but who knows how far it will go?
