Color Forecasts

The Association's fashion color forecasts are presented on large (12"X 22") swatched charts. Each color on each forecast is selected by a committee of eight working professionals. Yarn and fabric swatches are duplicated in separate packets so that members can file their charts for future reference.

Fashion color forecasts are issued to members in September and in March, 22 months ahead of a selling season.

The Association's Environmental/Interior Colors Forecast is a large, (12"X29") silk-screened paper chart. The colors shown are determined by a 12-member panel of working professionals in a variety of residential and contract interior industries, including fabric, floor covering, architectural and interior design, paints and laminates. The Forecast is accompanied by a deck of silk screened paper swatches.

What category of color forecast should I choose?

Interiors Color Forecast
If you work in interiors or graphic or environmental or product design choose the environmental/interior colors forecast. This premier card is the fastest growing one. Among those who receive the interior color forecast are designers for contract and residential interiors, for paper products, candles, carpets, automotive, tiles, paints, desk accessories, silk flowers, and cosmetics. This color card is often used in conjunction with one or more of the other categories, as it provides an overview of the prevailing color sensibilty.

Women's Color Forecast
Do you need to pinpoint hot shades? Do you need to know whether a particular season will be predominently pastel or bright or dark? The women's fashion forecast can answer these questions. Pinks and fuchsia were everywhere in spring 2003; CAUS members knew this in spring of 2001.

Men's Color Forecast
If you are styling a men's line or need to know traditional shades for men, this is the appropriate choice. It is an excellent source for color trends in athletic and outerwear shades as well.

Youth Color Forecast
The CAUS youth forecast features fun, playful colors that not only work well for boys' and girls' clothing but in such other fields as paper products, decorative accessories, graphic design, cosmetics and floral design.
