DATES: JUNE 6, 2011 – AUGUST 12, 2011

Internship objectives:

This Virtual Internship presents you with the unique opportunity to deepen your color knowledge while developing and enhancing your research, analysis, collaboration and presentation skills.

Format

  • This virtual internship employs the format of teams as the basic work-unit.
  • All work is collaborative within and across teams and is guided by your internship advisor.
  • All work is supported with guiding tools and technologies to allow your team to function effectively in a virtual environment.
  • While it is likely that your virtual team will experience some technical and collaborative challenges similar to those you often encounter with task teams in your work life, the virtual internship teams create an opportunity to leverage personal skills and experience that team members have to generate learnings greater than those of single individuals and create an excellent final deliverable.

You will be assigned into a thematic work team and address critical color questions within that realm. Specifically teams will work to develop in-depth knowledge of the role color plays within business verticals including:

Specifically the Color Research Fellow internship project is comprised of the following stages:

Stage 1: Project Launch:

Project launch, test-drive & calibration – We will review research practices, have you initiate your research and identify questions and issues of concern, discuss and calibrate search practices and get you off to a great start.

Stage 2 – Deep Dive:

  1. You will conduct an in-depth research within your business vertical to identify how color is used and leveraged in this industry. You will also identify and review relevant academic publications pertaining to color preference and consumer usage of color in the area studied. We will provide on-going mentorship and review & discussion opportunities throughout this deep-dive.
  2. You will work with other team members from the same business vertical to develop a complete analysis of the data collected and a recommendation set for color utilization within the vertical. Again, specific guidelines for analysis will be provided.
  3. All teams are required to present their analysis and findings to the entire research fellow pool. Discussion of findings within and across business vertical will follow and lessons learned will be identified.

Stage 3 – Cross Vertical Learning:

Once teams presented their analysis of color in their business vertical we will guide teams to assess, define and present cross-vertical learning of best practices of color usage across all areas studied.

Deliverables:
