KOREA VS FRANCE

It’s unusual to see pink cars in the United States (unless you’re a star performer within the ranks of Mary Kay) but in South Korea, they’re considered a mild form of rebellion, where nine out of 10 cars are silver, black, or white.  In fact, no country has as high a proportion of these three colors as does South Korea, where fitting in, versus standing out, is the norm....  read more

As the culture of South Korea becomes a more prominent global one, with its pop stars and fashion-forward teens, the Asian culture still demands a code of conformity at home.  For many Koreans, owning a colorful car is simply not an option.  White cars, in particular, have the highest resale value and are seen to be better maintained as they are commonly associated with families and thus more stable, responsible owners.

While the South Koreans might shy away from colorful personal transportation, the French have no such fear.  With over 100,000 orders received for the Citroen DS3 vehicle, the French manufacturer has commemorated this extraordinary achievement by launching new color schemes and roof designs to rival the macaroon selection at Laduree.

Beginning this month, the new color schemes scream “look at me”, with the first option offered with a Fuchsia Pink roof, with matching pink door mirrors, wheel caps, and gear knob.  Think Katy Perry, Paris Hilton, and Legally Blonde.  A less girly, but no less commanding option, comes in a Hickory Brown pearlescent body color, with two additional roof designs.

Regardless of what you may think, the sales numbers tell the real story, since its launch early in 2010 and over 10,000 DS3’s have been sold in the UK alone.  In addition, having picked up a whole host of awards, including Top Gear Magazine’s ‘Car of the Year’ and Fifth Gear’s ‘Small Car of the Year’, it has earned a reputation as one of the most stylish cars on the road.
